Lawrence Calcano, Chairman and CEO
Calcano has deep domain knowledge and deal experience working with start up and growth companies in technology, the internet, e-commerce and sports media. He has served as an adviser to the CEOs of many of the most exciting growth companies over the years. Calcano was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Calcano Capital Advisors, Inc. since 2007. Previously, Calcano worked at Goldman Sachs for almost 17 years, where he became a Partner in the Investment Banking Division serving as Co-Head of the firm’s Technology Banking Group (“the Tech Group”) for the period of 2002 to 2006, Co-COO of the Tech Group from 1997 to 2002, and Head of the firm’s East Coast Technology Group for over 13 years, which he founded in 1993. During this period, Goldman’s Tech Group established itself as the recognized leader in the Technology Industry, not only in terms of market share in all product lines, such as Mergers and Acquisitions and in Financings, but also in relationships with the industry’s most important executives, such as those leading Microsoft, eBay, Yahoo, Amdocs, Analog Devices, Ciena, Sonus, Cognizant, Dell, AOL, PTC, Sapient, and Vistaprint, among many others. Calcano has served on the Boards of Directors for several companies over the years including 800Flowers, Freemarkets and Capital Acquisition Corp. Calcano invested in many of these companies as well and was named to the Forbes Midas List of the most influential people in venture capital in 2001 (the inaugural year), 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Calcano was an analyst at Morgan Stanley after graduating from Holy Cross College in 1985. He attended the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 1988 and graduated as a Tuck Scholar in 1990.
Barry Saunders, CFO and EVP, Finance
Mr. Saunders joined Bite Tech as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Finance in March 2010. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Saunders worked with Burton Snowboards for nine years where he became the Vice President of Finance. From 1985 to 2001, Mr. Saunders served in the capacities of Retail Controller of Cole Haan, a subsidiary of Nike; Assistant Controller of Bass Shoes; Financial Planning and Budget Manager of Carroll Reed; and Vice President of Finance and Operations for a subsidiary of Reed & Barton. Mr. Saunders is a CPA and worked in public accounting with Ernst & Whinney after graduating from Bentley College in 1982.
Mark Mastalir, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer
Mark has 20 years of global experience selling, marketing and managing world-class brands in the sports, entertainment and consumer goods industries. Mark joins Bite Tech from OptionIt, an innovative start-up in the ticketing industry, where he was the CEO. In this capacity, he raised capital, signed partnerships with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Celtics, and Baltimore Ravens, and launched the business. Mark’s earlier career includes over ten years of experience in the footwear and apparel industries, with five years of global marketing experience with Nike. He also held a senior business development role with the National Basketball Association, and was the head of sports, entertainment and digital marketing for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company. Mark has appeared on CNBC, in the Wall Street Journal, and is a frequent guest lecturer at Harvard Law School. He has a B.A. and a M.A. from Stanford University. At Stanford, he was an All-American, sub-four-minute miler on the university’s Track and Field team, where he qualified and competed in the 1500 meters at the 1992 Olympic Trials.
Dr. Henry Cross III, EVP, Research and Development
Dr. Cross has served as Executive Vice President of research and development since 1996 and Chairman of the Bite Tech-Cross Research Institute since 2006. He possesses over 55 years of experience in bringing new products to market and leads Bite Tech’s research and science programs. Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Cross spent nearly 37 years at Colgate-Palmolive where he participated in all levels of product development, including experience in the sports industry, launching products such as Etonic Golf and Running Shoes, Ram Golf Clubs, Bike Football Helmets and Bancroft Tennis Racquets. He has served on the Sports Equipment and Technology Committee of the United States Olympic Committee and as Chairman and Executive Director of the United States Shooting Team. He is the past president of the Hockey Equipment Certification Council. He is also an honorary 22 member of the ASTM Committee for Sports Equipment and Facilities and has chaired its Task Force on standards for football helmets and mouthguards.
Bill Cook, VP, Manufacturing
Mr. Cook joined Bite Tech in 1999. As Vice President, Manufacturing, Mr. Cook is involved with product design and development, raw material research, and developing and managing vendor relationships. Mr. Cook has over 30 years of manufacturing experience. Prior to joining Bite Tech, Mr. Cook served as Vice President of Manufacturing at EZ Gard Industries.
Sascha Boecker, VP, Creative Director
Sascha Boecker has developed exceptional creative solutions to support business objectives of sports, technology and lifestyle brands for 18+ years. At Bite Tech, Boecker is responsible for aligning all creative initiatives with the company’s mission to position and establish Bite Tech as the leader in the performance mouthwear category. Boecker interfaces with partners regarding creative matters to ensure brand consistency across all channels. He also works closely with Bite Tech’s product development group to help identify and implement future mouthwear product applications. Prior to joining Bite Tech, Boecker was principal of VO2 Media, a design agency offering interactive consulting, creative and technology services to clients ranging from independent ventures to Fortune 500 companies. As creative director, he transformed creative concepts into effective business solutions for clients such as American Express, Best Buy, IBM, Intel Corporation, 3M, Starkey Laboratories, Moët Hennessy, and NBC Sports. His award-winning design work has been show-cased in the industry’s top publications, including Print, Graphis and Communication Arts.
Eric Solem, VP Europe
Eric has more than 15 years experience developing businesses and partnerships throughout Europe. He has worked with leading organizations selling products and developing relationships with many Fortune 500 companies. Previously Eric was in digital media, software sales and marketing roles and was head of the entire affiliate business for Expedia and Hotels.com for EMEA. He spent six years in the enterprise software space selling and managing large scale projects across multiple territories and development teams in Europe and India. He is responsible for expanding Bite Tech’s reach with dental partners in Europe and developing sports marketing relationships with top teams leagues in Europe.
Cameron Stewart, VP Canada
Cam played in the NHL with the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, and was an original member of the Minnesota Wild. He retired from hockey due to problems arising from an on-- ice concussion. His unique and personal perspective is instrumental in his role as Vice President of Bite Tech Canada and his leadership in the introduction of innovative Performance Mouthwear to the Canadian sports community.
Michael Dabrowski, VP, Marketing Operations
Michael joined Bite Tech in December, 2010. His background is in the Advertising Agency business, where he worked his entire career, most recently as Director of Operations at J. Walter Thompson. Prior to JWT, he was SVP, Group Account Director at Young & Rubicam, and Team Leader on the Ford business. Michael has worked at several New York Agencies, with a wide range of experience in a variety of categories and businesses, including clients such as Mercedes-Benz, Coca Cola, Colgate Palmolive, Procter and Gamble, General Foods and Unilever. Additional experience includes Sony Global, Philip Morris and New Business development.
Michael is a graduate of Brown University, with a degree in Mathematics and Economics.
Brian Ronald, VP, Operations
Brian joined Bite Tech in April 2011 and brings over 25 years of high tech electronic operations management experience in both captive and outsource manufacturing arenas. He has more than 20 years of exposure in global manufacturing and supply chain regions in Asia, South America, Mexico and Europe. Brian has directed operations and new product introductions in high volume manufacturing venues for companies such as GE Lighting, US Robotics/3Com/Palm, Efficient Networks/Siemens, and Agility Communications/JDSU to achieve on time product deliveries with Lean manufacturing techniques. For the past 4 years, he has directed his own consulting company focused on sustainable performance improvement by means of Human Performance Technology and Lean Thinking Principles.
Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Master’s from Boise State University.
