]]>Craig Carton, host of the Boomer & Carton Sports Radio talk show on 101.9FM founded TicTocStop.org in 2013 as a way of raising awareness about TS and ultimately finding a cure. Craig and his two children are afflicted with TS and he has long been an advocate for those who suffer daily from the tics that are a characteristic of the disorder. During his quest to research possible cures or treatments for Tourette’s and more specifically the tics associated with Tourette’s, Carton met Dr. Anthony Sims, a dentist in Columbia, Maryland, who has been working with patients suffering from movement disorders for the past decade.
The concept that Dr. Sims has developed and continues to study involves moving the lower jaw down and forward through the use of a custom made oral orthotic. With the use of the oral orthotic, Dr. Sims has observed that his patients with tics or other movement disorders associated with TMJ dysfunction have experienced diminished symptoms, and in some cases, an outright stoppage of tics.
