Bite Tech Inc., and Craig Carton’s TicTocStop.org Announce New Exclusive Partnership

Norwalk, CT (March 21, 2023) - Bite Tech, a privately held Sports and Wellness technology company, has announced a new exclusive agreement and partnership with TicTopStop.org, a not for profit organization, to clinically test, develop and market an oral orthotic device utilizing Bite Tech’s patented “wedge” design oral appliance in the hopes of improving the lives of people suffering from Tourette’s Syndrome (TS), by lessening the tics associated with the disorder.

Craig Carton, host of the Boomer & Carton Sports Radio talk show on 101.9FM founded TicTocStop.org in 2013 as a way of raising awareness about TS and ultimately finding a cure. Craig and his two children are afflicted with TS and he has long been an advocate for those who suffer daily from the tics that are a characteristic of the disorder.  During his quest to research possible cures or treatments for Tourette’s and more specifically the tics associated with Tourette’s, Carton met Dr. Anthony Sims, a dentist in Columbia, Maryland, who has been working with patients suffering from movement disorders for the past decade.

The concept that Dr. Sims has developed and continues to study involves moving the lower jaw down and forward through the use of a custom made oral orthotic.  With the use of the oral orthotic, Dr. Sims has observed that his patients with tics or other movement disorders associated with TMJ dysfunction have experienced diminished symptoms, and in some cases, an outright stoppage of tics.

TicTocStop’s medical team is led by Dr. Sims, along with Dana Wachter, a registered nurse, trained and licensed in the treatment of people with Tourette’s Syndrome, Dr. Mike Gruttadauria, one of only 600 chiropractic neurologists in the United States and Dr. Elliot Taynor, a dentist who has also seen his patients’ tics respond positively when treated with the oral orthotic.

TicTocStop and its medical team along with Bite Tech are currently conducting a joint clinical study with 11 patients from the New York metro area, to study in a controlled medical environment how the use of an oral orthotic can improve the lives of people afflicted with TS by lessening the tics associated with the disorder. The oral orthotics for the clinical study are being produced by Bite Tech in the FDA registered lab under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. William Balanoff, DDS, MS, FICD and one of the inventors of the patented Bite Tech “wedge” appliance.
