Welcome to spring. And what a spring it’s been.
Bite Tech hit the Major League Baseball spring training circuit this year and once again made believers out of many players, coaches, trainers, staff and team dentists. The teams visited included the Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays.

Pro Services representative, Andy Secor, along with physical therapist, Mike Dixey, spent hours taking players through strength and flexibility tests, with and without the appliance. The result was impressive.

Player after player, who initially were skeptical, were lining up to be fit and impatiently asking how soon they could get theirs. More than 70 players were fit. And six team dentists were brought on board as authorized providers. Keep your eyes peeled for our product appearing on the field in MLB parks across the country this season.

Bite Tech technology returns to the field.
Look for other players, too, like Michael Cuddyer, to use the mouthpiece once again this year.

Last year, Michael Cuddyer became one the first MLB players to use Bite Tech technology. It has since become a part of his uniform, and his story highlights all the mouthpiece benefits.

Cuddyer actually started using his mouthpiece near the end of 2008 as he dug into some rigorous rehab to clear up nagging injuries. His mouthpiece helped speed up his recovery process, which included aerobic and resistance training. Then it was game time.

The first weekend Cuddyer used his performance mouthpiece in games, he went 10 for 15 in a series against the Yankees. Needless to say, he wore it for the rest of the season, posting some of his best all-time numbers, highlighted by his most home runs ever in a single season. Very simply, he was a man on fire.

Michael Cuddyer not only experienced increased strength and better endurance, but also less stress on the field. “It’s weird to describe, “ he relates, “but wearing the mouthpiece at the plate, I felt balanced, not rushing, not forcing.” He concludes, “If I don’t have it in, I feel naked.”

Unlike opposing pitchers, we’re looking forward to seeing “Cuddy” at the plate again this season, strong, calm, in the zone and taking his time to send them over the fences.

From the playing field to the battlefield, Bite Tech’s technology is helping not only athletes but firefighters, police, SWAT teams, Special Forces and other military personnel as well. After all, high-pressure, tense, aggressive situations aren’t found only in the sports world. Just ask students, executives, moms, airline pilots, physicians, truckers, teachers, laborers… the truth is, at times we could all use some assistance with our performance.

Some of us need that assistance more frequently. Like Omaha firefighter, Nate Rohda.

To stay in the top physical condition his occupation calls for, Nate works out extensively. He immediately noticed more enduring strength and faster recovery wearing the mouthpiece during exercise. About three weeks after first using the UA performance mouthpiece, this happened, as Nate tells it:

“Yesterday it was -20F here and I was just a little over halfway through my workout at the fire station. We had a call for a car wreck and were standing outside prying a car door open and lifting a patient that weighed over 200 lbs. for probably 20 minutes. Normally I would be completely drained after a call like that. But after wearing the mouthpiece on the call, I went to back the station and finished my workout. I tell you that has never happened before.”

We don’t know who was more pleased. Nate. Or the victim of the accident.

MINNEAPOLIS (January 12, 2009) — Bite Tech has hired former NHL player Cam Stewart to introduce its innovative new line of performance mouthwear to the Canadian hockey community.

Bite Tech’s revolutionary technology has quickly become standard gear for countless NHL players. Zdeno Chara, Brad Richards, Jonathan Toews and Henrik Zetterberg are just a few of a lengthy list of players who are currently using the company’s mouthwear to improve their performance. Another, New York Rangers star Marian Gaborik, is also one of Bite Tech’s many athlete investors.

Research studies have shown that the technology in Bite Tech’s mouthwear can help athletes improve strength, endurance and reaction time, reduce athletic stress and reduce impact from blows to the jaw.

“Having played at the highest level, Cam understands the need for an athlete to unlock his or her full potential, and he recognizes the important role a mouthguard can play in protecting the player,” said Bob Molhoek, CEO of Bite Tech. “Cam is the perfect person to spread the word that the mouthwear making the game’s greats better can improve the performance of any hockey player.”

Stewart, who played for the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers and Minnesota Wild, retired from hockey in 2001 as a result of concussion-related problems suffered during his playing days. His passion for the product comes from a unique and very personal perspective.

“I’ve been wearing my mouthpiece for four months now and have felt the best I have in eight years. For the first time since retirement, I’ve started to lift weights and coach - all without headaches and dizziness,” said Stewart. “It has changed my quality of life and I’m on a mission to help improve other people’s lives by enhancing their performance and helping reduce stress.”

Bite Tech recently partnered with Under Armour to introduce its patented technology in Under Armour Performance Mouthwear™, an innovative new line of custom mouthpieces and mouthguards that are available exclusively through Patterson Dental’s extensive network of authorized dentists. Visit www.underarmour.com for more information on the new line of mouthwear and to locate a UA Performance Mouthwear dentist.

From NFL football players to professional triathletes to Olympic Games competitors, Bite Tech products are proving to be vital for better training and more successful competition. The stakes are high, the stage is monumental and Bite Tech mouthpieces are delivering.

Witness the words of Minnesota Twin great Michael Cuddyer: “If I don’t have it in, I feel naked.” It’s the same kind of testimonial we receive from many athletes — wearing Bite Tech’s performance mouthwear has become second nature. Without it, athletes feel they are missing a part of their uniform. Or worse that they are suddenly competing from a lower playing field.

For a new technology to be embraced so quickly is a tribute to the game-changing quality of our product. For so many different athletes to have the same reaction is a testimony to the myriad benefits of this phenomenal technology.

Check out what else professional and champion athletes are saying.

“I tried it, not only on the field but off the field during workouts. I could feel the difference in my endurance. I was stronger, my body felt better.”
Adrian Peterson, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings

“It has increased my strength, power and heightened my accuracy.”
Hunter Mahan, PGA Pro

“When the game is on the line I want my body and mind to be 100% in sync, this technology makes that happen for me.”
Marian Gaborik, New York Rangers, NHL All-Star

“The weights didn’t feel so heavy.”
David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox

“I have noticed feeling more relaxed while riding.”
Sarah Haskins, Pro Triathlete, US Olympian

“Where I’m really seeing improvement is in my drive phase and pulling a sled. I know that I am getting out of the hole better than I ever have.”
Luke Schultz, US Skeleton Olympian

“I am always looking for that extra edge. From the moment I put my Under Armour Performance Mouthpiece in my mouth, I could feel a difference.”
Chris McCormack, Pro Triathlete, AUS Olympian and 2-Time Kona World Champion

“The Under Armour Performance Mouthwear has given me the edge I need to increase my strength, keep me quick on my feet and rise to the challenge.”
Rey Maualuga, Cincinnati Bengals

“It’s the best technology on the market. I used to hate wearing a mouthguard in games because its bulkiness would impede on my breathing techniques.”
Paul Rabil, Boston Cannons and Washington Stealth

“Communication is a vital part of my position. This product fits like non-other. I can shout and be understood.”
Willie Mitchell, Vancouver Canucks

MINNEAPOLIS – Bite Tech, Inc., a Minneapolis-based technology company dedicated to improving performance and health, has partnered with Under Armour to release its latest product innovation: performance mouthwear.

Powered by ArmourBite™, Bite Tech’s patented technology, Under Armour Performance Mouthwear is an innovative new line of custom mouthpieces and mouthguards designed to improve athletic performance. UA Performance Mouthwear can help any athlete improve strength, endurance and reaction time, reduce athletic stress, and with the mouthguard, reduce impact from blows to the jaw.

When athletes exert themselves, clenching the jaw is a natural reaction. Teeth-clenching, however, triggers the excess production and release of hormones, such as cortisol, that produce stress, fatigue and distraction, hindering an athlete’s performance. ArmourBite Technology in UA Performance Mouthwear prevents an athlete’s teeth from clenching, relieves pressure on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and prevents the excessive production of performance-sapping hormones.

“Throughout history, soldiers, warriors and athletes realized that by preventing their teeth from clenching together with a leather strap or bullet, they were able to gain the edge they needed to get through, or even excel at strenuous or punishing activities,” said Jon Kittelsen, Bite Tech’s founder and maverick entrepreneur. “Our technology brings this ancient concept to today’s athletes with a comfortable, safe product from Under Armour.”

More than 25 years ago, Kittelsen revolutionized the mouthguard marketplace by introducing the concept of marketing and brand-building to the category. He founded EZ Gard Industries and launched Shock Doctor, currently the world’s leading manufacturer of mouthguards for retail distribution. Kittelsen’s name appears on almost 50 patents in mouthguard technology and other oral appliances.

Hundreds of professional, Olympic and collegiate athletes have been using Bite Tech’s performance mouthwear products for years. And a roster of current and former athletes such as Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson, Bernard Berrian and Bobby Wade, New York Ranger Marian Gaborik, and retired sports legends Brett Hull and Raghib “Rocket” Ismail are among the athletes who have invested in Bite Tech’s business.

Bite Tech has conducted years of independent studies at some of the nation’s top universities and research centers, including The Citadel and IMG Academies, which have proven the science behind the ArmourBite™ Technology found in UA Performance Mouthwear.

“Under Armour is the perfect partner because we share their mission of using innovation to make all athletes better,” said Bob Molhoek, CEO of Bite Tech. “We’re thrilled to launch this technology under one of the most popular brands in sports.”

Available late August exclusively through Patterson Dental’s nationwide network of authorized dentists, the Under Armour Performance Mouthwear line includes:

• UA Performance Mouthpiece – Custom-molded mouthpiece with optimal fit and comfort for non-contact sports, such as baseball, golf, tennis, cycling and running.

• UA Performance Mouthguard – Custom-molded mouthguard with superior protection and comfort for contact sports, such as football, hockey, lacrosse, martial arts, and wrestling.

Additionally, a premium alloy version of the mouthpiece will be added to the UA Performance Mouthwear product line-up in Fall 2009.

Visit www.underarmour.com for more information on the new line of gear and to locate a UA Performance Mouthwear dentist.

Plymouth, MN – A small Roman Catholic college preparatory school – Providence Academy - in the western suburb of Minneapolis served as the site for one big football gathering – the first annual Larry Fitzgerald Jr. Football Camp sponsored by Velocity Sports Performance and Bite Tech, Inc.

While Providence’s halls may be quiet during the summer months, there was no shortage of star-power on campus this week as the event boasted several members of the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals as counselors, including: Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston, Chris Vincent, Domique Byrd, and Tyler Palko, to name a few.

Over 250 campers, ages 10-14, swarmed to the Minneapolis suburb to learn from the best. The camp gave Bite Tech the wonderful opportunity to reach out to this group of young athletes by providing each camper with a complimentary Bite Tech Performance Mouthguard. The Pro Services team of Liam O’Hagan, Andy Secor, Jared Bye, Chad Lunaas and DeVentri Jordan were on hand to assist in the fitting of these youngsters and eventual stars of tomorrow. Even the pro counselors on hand were fit with Performance Mouthwear.
